The E-2 investor visa will permit a foreign physician to enter the United States:
…solely to develop and direct the operations of an active enterprise in which he or she has invested, or of an enterprise in which the physician is actively in the process of investing, a substantial amount of capital…
To qualify for an E-2 investor visa the following criteria must be met:
- The physician/investor must be a citizen of a Treaty Country.
- The business must be an active and ongoing business enterprise in the United States.
- The physician must be a majority owner of the business and must be responsible for actively directing and developing the business operations.
- A substantial investment of $60,000 – $100,000 (or more) is generally required.
- The business should employee 2-3 employees.
Physicians who are citizens of one of the following treaty countries may have the option of applying for an E-2 visa as an investor.
